Moviemakers are always looking for the next good idea. Sometimes it’s in the form of an alternate universe (preferably one that looks great in 3D IMAX!). Sometimes it’s a homeless high school student that can protect a quarterback. Sometimes it’s recycled characters that were popular the first time they were on the screen.

Good ideas can take all kinds of forms. For most movie production companies coming off the biggest independent film of the year, these would give them plenty of good options. But when the moviemaker is a church, ideas are gleaned from a completely different perspective.

We asked Michael Catt, Sherwood’s Senior Pastor (and the executive producer of FIREPROOF, Facing the Giants, and Flywheel) how he and his team came up with the theme of fatherhood for Courageous. Take a minute and listen to the importance of a God idea versus a good idea.
